Mohini Day Denies Link to AR Rahman’s Divorce

Mumbai: Recently, news of AR Rahman’s divorce with his wife spread like wildfire, and within hours, Mohini Day, the guitarist in Rahman’s band, also announced her separation from her husband. This led social media users to speculate a connection between the two divorces. 

Initially, Day addressed the rumors on her Instagram story, stating she had received numerous interview requests, but she was declining them as she was not interested in fueling baseless speculations. "I don’t want to waste my energy on rumors, please respect my privacy," she said. In her latest statement, Day clarified her relationship with AR Rahman, stating, “I have many role models in my life who hold a fatherly figure to me, and I am lucky and grateful for their role in my upbringing. AR Rahman is one of them, and I deeply respect him.” Day emphasized that Rahman, who is only slightly younger than her father, had always treated her like family.

She continued, "I worked with his band for almost eight years, and five years ago, I moved to the US. Please respect my privacy, this is a personal matter." Addressing the unfounded rumors that have linked her divorce to Rahman’s, Day said, "It is incredible to see the false information and assumptions circulating about me and AR Rahman. Media has wrongly associated our divorces and made me the culprit. I worked with Rahman for eight years, and I am like his child." Day urged the public and media to be more empathetic, adding, "This is a very painful time, and I request people to show some mercy and not interfere."
